receive a free CD containing video files of the conference What are the latest technology tools for providing health information? How can librarians become leaders in bringing these technologies to rural and underserved areas? Click on the Webcast link above to access ideas presented at this conference, held on June 7, 2001. In addition to conference materials below, procedures and lessons learned for those who wish to replicate the project will be provided at a later date. Description: This one-day conference featured the use of distance education technology to bring the expertise of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Library, the Western Maryland Area Health Education Center, and guest speakers from Dartmouth College, Duke University, and the Allegany County Library System to rural information providers in Maryland, West Virginia, and South Carolina. Rural and small-town areas in America can find themselves behind the “technology curve.” The first step in assuming leadership roles in health science information services is education about new opportunities arising in the field. The conference provided overviews of these opportunities to give participants a vision for the future and practical skills to prepare for the 21st century. ~ Top ~ Objectives: Upon completion, participants should be able to:
